Burg Eltz and the Rhine
This morning I got up and went for a great run in the hills over Lohr. The air was crisp and the hills are steep, but the altitude isn’t very high so I was able to cruise along nicely without getting winded. In the woods I saw six deer, two squirrels and one rabbit. I typically have a knack for finding great running trails when I visit new places and this was no exception. The run was beautiful and there were many more trails I wanted to explore. Next time.
Today we toured Burg Eltz, which is a terrific castle near the Mosel. It sits in a wooded valley, and the view of the castle while you’re walking down to it is phenomenal.
After Burg Eltz, we drove down the Rhine and saw many more castles and ruins. A stop in St. Goar (home of the Loreley legend and statue) provided some good Christmas shopping opportunities.
